I Shopped at Urban Outfitters as an Adult and You Know What? Not Bad

Urban Outfiters

The last time I bought something at Urban Outfitters, Dua Lipa was studying for her A-levels. MULTIPLE children have been created in my body since I stepped foot into the now-defunct location on Amsterdam and bought, I don’t know, probably an ironic needlepoint throw pillow for my overpriced studio apartment.

So when Urban Outfitters emailed me about some “Jet-Setter Must-Haves,” I was confused. Did they have me mixed up with someone with more than nine TikTok followers? I get emails from brands all the time asking if I want to sample baby monitors and beach chairs, but oval sunglasses and straw cowboy hats? That’s not my traditional testing fare.

I pitched trying out some clothes as a 37-year-old mom and they… agreed to it? (Thanks, Emily!) I put together three outfits: one for date night, one as an everyday summer look, and a third athleisure fit for when I’m feeling sporty.

Here’s the result! Complete with full-body shots, which I took for science purposes.

The biggest tip I can give fellow moms (or persons over 30ish) is to shop online, and online only. Do NOT go into an Urban Outfitters. You will be surrounded by teens in crop tops and feel absolutely decrepit. Their online selection is way better and has tons of Millennial-friendly brands, particularly in the shoe section. Birks! Baggu! UGGs! Nike! Adidas!

Here are links to all the products in the TikTok – except the hair clip. It’s cute but so very fragile.
