My Favorite Jean Jacket Is From the Old Lady Store at the Airport
A few years ago, I had some time to kill at the airport so I wandered into one of those stores with a lot of crinkled fabric. You know what I mean: sensible walking shoes, copious fleur-de-lis emblems, heavy bracelets. I figured I’d just meander, but I ended up buying a jean jacket that would become my go-to for travel and daily wear: the classic jean jacket from Liverpool Los Angeles.
I’m an absolute jacket slut. I have oversized jackets, fitted jackets, denim and khaki, quilted and leather — you name it. I love a jacket, and Liverpool’s jean jacket is the one I reach for the most because it fits like a glove thanks to its cotton/nylon/spandex blend. I know, it’s not true denim if it’s not all cotton. I don’t care! It looks great by itself or over a zippered hoodie, the stretch makes it ideal for travel, and the dark wash goes with everything.
Maybe I’m an old lady now, I don’t know. If I am, and I’m about to start wearing airy floral blouses and rhinestone-cuffed capri pants, I’m alright with that. I do love a loafer.
The caveat is that my exact jacket no longer appears to be available. The style is the same as Liverpool’s Classic White Jean Jacket, but the wash is “Dark Americana.” Still, you can find similar jackets on their website:
